Weekend Getaway: Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014

It's crazy. It's fun. It's out of this world. The only thing missing? Crowd.

Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014 may not have swept the nation at its first run in the Philippines, but it's definitely gonna  be something to watch out for in the coming years. Let's simplify this for the negative Nancy in you. If you love good music, good music and simply, good music, Sandstorm should be on your top 5 must-see list.

Okay. I may have gone a bit further this time, but it's not exactly far-fetched. Sandstorm Electronic Festival caters to a specific market- the underground. Yep! That means EDM. You know! Techno, house, and a pinch of Pop, here and there. Oh, and don't forget post-Disco music! You heard it.

If you like to party by the beach ala Laboracay, here's something for you during the Christmas season. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's paint a picture for you first as to why Sandstorm should be a part of your must-attend events list.

My friends, France and Ian, and I got to the event venue hours earlier. However, because of that, we were able to go around and check out all the stations in the event.

Hi, France! (That bass, though)
There are three (3) stations you can go to which are, in my opinion, divided according to their specific genre.

Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014: Beach Station

The Beach station is all about club and party music. What does that mean? Deuce Manila and Heat Beat. That basically sums it up for you, I hope.

Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014: Lagoon Station

The next one is the Lagoon station. This station is all about dance and post-disco music. If you're lucky, you might even have a taste of reggae in the mix. It usually depends on the DJ. Nonetheless, if you're into laid-back party music, but still want sway to the beat now and then, Lagoon station is perfect for you.

Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014: Jungle Station

Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014: Jungle Station with Sinyma

Finally, we have the Jungle station. The Jungle station, I think, is for variety electronic music. For one, there's the amazing house-and-future-garage band called Sinyma who blew everyone away, and of course, awesome DJ mixes here and there. I can't exactly pinpoint what genre does the Jungle station cater to, but I think it's part of its charm. The music is always a pleasant surprise.

Now what's great about this is unlike many other jam-packed and hyped up events, the music is not scattered. You won't be heading from one party to another, only to hear the same type of music. At Sandstorm, every station is a different experience.

For instance. if you only love a specific type of EDM, Sandstorm gives you the option to listen to whichever type of music you prefer. Like a playlist, Sandstorm gives you the power to choose which live electronic music you want to listen to.

And that's just the tip of the ice berg...

The crowd during the paint gun sesh...

They have a paint gun segment, a lighting of bonfire which I regretfully missed, and a jail-booth section which scared France and I to death, but never got around to experiencing it because we are law-abiding music lovers. The booth was in the middle of the forest though, so the mystery of the supposed punishment for violators is not just imprisonment, but also, total black out. Yeah, good luck with that! And I almost forgot, if you love camping out, there's a special place for campers. So you can camp-out and still enjoy the music you love. How's that for awesome?

Weekend Getaway: Sandstorm Electronic Festival 2014
Age-wise, it caters to a wide market. Whether you're in your late-teens and early-20s to your late-20s and mid-30s, there's a good chance Sandstorm will be able to provide you the music you love whatever your preferences are. There are tons of reasons why you should check out Sandstorm Electronic Festival in case it happens again next year (crossing all my fingers that it will), but there's no point in giving you every single one. Is there? Simply put, it's a one-of-a-kind festival you have to experience yourself to gush over!
Until next time...
